Adventures in Paradise - Panama Canal, Hot Fun in the Sun!

"Surfing the Canal"  Cruise, April 2010!

Day 7 - Experiencing the Panama Canal!

Here we are just leaving the Gatun Locks and entered Gatun Lake, 7:45 am and only about 90 degrees with 100% humidity! One of the more incredible engineered feats I have been to, especially since this is the same as it was in 1914!

"Meet" the Infinity!

Here is the "sister" ship to Celebrity's, Millennium, the Infinity. Very unique that we passed her right in the middle of our crossing here in the Panama Canal. The horns went off and all the passengers on both ships made enough noise to wake up all the neighbors, it was awesome!

It's a Jungle out there!

One reason the Canal works so well is the water that comes from the tropical rain forest and if it wasn't for all the rain this  incredible project would not work!

Miraflores Locks

Completed in 1913 and open for traffic in 1914 the Miraflores Locks is the lock system that you'll go through connecting

to the Pacific Ocean and the neighbor to Panama City. Hard to imaging that this was done back in the early 1900 and is still in operation, the same gates are still being used today!

End of the Line!

Say good-bye to the Panama Canal, well for us heading to the Pacific Ocean anyway, but I will be back. For anyone who want to see an "original", you only have until 2014 before the "New & Improved" canal opens!

Here is what they call the "Americas Bridge" which connects North & South America, yes you can drive the whole way!

It has been incredible day, yes life's a journey and YES I enjoyed the ride today!
