Day 2 - A Day at the Beach "Triple Session"!
Not "Pipeline" but then that means I got to enjoy it and lived to write about it!
Session one was short and sweet just across the street at La Pared. The "dawn patrol" in PR is at 6:00 am, water temp was 80 and air was mid 70's, not a bad "wake me up"! Then a nice "full breakfast" at the hotel where I meet up with Bob and we were off to check a few local spots. The picture above (taken on my last trip here) is La Selva, our first stop, but it was a little blown out today so it was over to the "south-east" side to check out "inches",
This spot was totally cool, unfortunately on this day it was just a little too small to be ripped today. Looks great here but it was breaking only a foot or two over the reef, Bob informed me it needs to be head high to be really good and that it's really good when it is! We did paddle out to check it out and beside I wanted to try my new camera. This shot was from me sitting in the water on my board, pretty cool!
I really enjoy seeing this area of PR, not a real tourist area, only a couple of hotels and local restaurants, very cool and I will definitely be back to visit again,
After the drive to the SE area it was back to check out one of my favorite spots
This is the reason I like to rent a Jeep, the road to the good spots can be fun, cars can make it, but I am not into paying to get towed out! This day found the water so deep on one road that we had to back track and take the "high road". Once again this drive was not for good cause as we found the onshore winds and choppy surf to be no fun, but the drive always cool!
The "Day of the Iguana"
Here's one of the "locals" you can expect to meet along the way. This "bad boy" was about 4 feet long and was a very cool yellow color,! Compared to the rest of his buddies he stood out and put up with my wanting just one more shot!
Back to the hotel for session #3, it was a little blown out but surfing in 80 degree water is way better than any day on the Oregon Coast for this "Old Guy"!
Time to get cleaned up and head back to Lolita's because it's Dinner Time!
Lolita's Comidas Mejicanas
Here's one of the best places to replenish the energy level! Right next to "Condom World", what's next? No matter who the neighbors are, this restaurant is highly recommended if you enjoy Mexican style food and is not far from "Home Base". The troops pictured below are from 2007 but nothing has changed, it's still awesome!!
