The Surfing!

Manzanillo Bay is the sparkling blue crescent of the Pacific located in Troncones, just 30 minutes north of Ixtapa and the airport in Zihuatanejo. Hidden away and off the beaten tourist path, Manzanillo Bay is a sanctuary, protected from prevailing winds and large line-ups, and is home to Manzanillo Point, a spectacular left point break that is literally 10 steps and a two-minute paddle away. 12 steps at the most!

This shot of your here to your left shows the Rod just cruising in from the point towards the beach. If the swell is decent and if you ride a longboard you can get one all the way in without a paddle, sweet way to end a session, especially for the older crowd like I hang with!

The Inn & Manzanillo Bay

This shot is taken in the water from the point looking back into the Inn. Click on the picture for a larger image and you can see our hang-out with a row of umbrellas and table, pretty sweet spot my friends.

Your "Home Break" wave in front of the Inn Manzanillo Bay is virtually your own and consistently good; more often than not being surfable all day. Depending on the swell and your skill level however, you may choose to check out one of the numerous other breaks in the area.

Saladita - the "wave machine" - is a predictable break for all levels located just down the road and The Ranch - a.k.a. "El Rancho" - thumps out long barreling lefts well regarded in surfing circles around the globe. Depending on the day, we'll point you in the right direction or gather the group and head out but usually, you'll like the looks of things right out our back door.

Boat Trip?

One more opportunity awaits for those with the "guns", a boat trip is not far away and depending on how many want to go, it's not a bad price! Figure on $50.00 per Person for a boat trips with 3 - 4 person minimum. I have not yet ventured out but with the right group count me in! For those that love the "Big Stuff", you will want to gather a few brave souls and head out to one of the best kept secrets!

If you're up for a little "tube riding" and enjoy a fast right that you can basically walk to this break. It's a combination of reef and beach but looks fun for those "short-boarders" who love the barrels!

Don't know how to surf? No problem. Surf lessons are available from local instructors. All skill levels are welcome on this trip.
